Great Blue and Little Green : I was very fortunate today to get shots of both a Great Blue Heron and a Little Green Heron, both in Huntsville, AL. I've since had several other encounters with these guys. The new shots are on page 2 and beyond.

D70 / 300mm f/2.8 : OK, the D2H went back to Nikon to get the metering failure fixed, so I went out to do some shooting with the D70 and the 300mm f/2.8. It ain't the D2H, but the little D70 didn't do too bad, IMHO. Starting with the 5th shot on Page 2, in an attempt to get closer to the big guy, I added several shots using the TC-14EII teleconverter.

Little Heron : I didn't know until I started going out to shoot ducks and geese that there were Herons in N. Alabama, but I see this little guy almost every time I go to the duck pond. I've been trying to get a good shot at him for weeks. I really need a longer lens, but I did get some fairly decent ones a couple of days ago. I'll add more shots as I get better ones, but these are the best I've gotten of him up to now.

Male Anhinga : Finally got out to take some birdie pictures on our trip to West Palm Beach. This guy was very accommodating. He was a heck of a fisherman. He would dive for minutes at a time, and finally came up with a huge fish. Don't know how he swallowed it.
